As a fun final family of four outing we decided to take a trip to the Shenandoah Mountains. The Shenandoah National Park is only 1.5 hours from where we live. And to make the event even more relaxing, we decided to go cabin-ing, versus camping. The kids loved the hikes, the river and the cave (Luray Caverns). Despite Maliah getting a bad ear infection, presumable from all the time spent in the hot tub at the cabin, we had a grand time!!!
Hike to Dark Hollow Falls Trail – 1.4 miles round trip; very steep; 70' waterfall.

River Exploring....
Hike to Lewis Falls Trail – 2 miles round trip; very steep and rocky; 81’ waterfall.
Luray Caverns are situated in the Shenandoah Valley. It was discovered in 1878,and is still an active cave where new deposits accumulate at the rate of one cubic inch in 120 years The temperature inside the caverns is uniformly 54 °F. We partook in the 45 minute tour that winded thru 1.25 miles of walkways.
