Easter Egg Hunt

We took the kids for an Easter Egg Hunt on Joint Base Bolling-Anacostia, in Washington, DC.

There were separate Easter Egg Hunt areas and staggered start times for different ages.  When Maliah's age started the egg hunt, she was totally unaffected by the kids (and parents) running about snatching up eggs before she even got a chance to bend over to pick one up (but Mom did guard over two eggs so she could have the joy, and experience, of picking up a least 1 or 2 eggs).  For Magnus' egg hunt, he froze when it was time for him to run out into the egg field.  Luckily Mom and Dad came prepared with extra eggs in our pockets.  So as the eggs disappeared from the field, and Magnus got more and more distraught, as he stood frozen at the start line, magically 3 eggs appeared at his feet and the world wasn't so bad anymore.

Egg Hunting is tiring business!

Yard Work

One day Mom came home with the kids and found Dad mowing the yard... with his shirt off.  Magnus jumped out of the car and promptly took off his shirt and insisted on helping Dad to mow the yard.

I hope when Magnus is a teenager it is as easy as this to get him to mow!

Daffodils

There was a massive field of brilliant yellow daffodils that Dylan and I passed by on our runs from Arlington down to DC.  We decided to take the kids to the field and let them run a muck and snap some fun spring pictures!  Magnus loved racing through the flowers, Maliah wasn't quite as sure about the situation... nonetheless she allowed us to place her in the middle of a patch for some photos.

At one point we saw Magnus at the other end of the daffodil patch and wondered what he was doing.  Upon further investigation we found he was fertilizing the flowers!  In Magnus' rush to run from the scene of the crime, he failed to take the time to pull up his pants, and we caught him literally 'with his pants down!"

Magnolia Tree

Magnus & Maliah and the Magnolia tree....  On our early morning bike ride down to the DC tidal basin to check-out the cherry blossoms, we stopped at this magnolia tree that was in full bloom.  The tree is just next to the Arlington National Cemetery Church, where all the official military funerals take place.  You can see the church in the background of some of the photos.

Here I come....
I can't make my smile any bigger!
