Halloween

Dad may be scared by the skeleton hanging on our front door,
but Maliah enjoyed touching it and got excited every time we walked her by the front door.  She would just look at the front door window and stare at it.

Maliah says "I ain't scared of you!"
These are the costumes that didn't make it to trick-or-treating, but we had fun playing in them for a little while!

The neighborhood grocery store had a Trick-or-Treat night the day before Halloween.  We couldn't pass up free candy and a chance to bowl in the grocery aisles.

Finally Halloween day came... and the whole family got dressed up.  Magnus understood Halloween this year.  Last year he just had fun putting candy in his bucket, or even taking it out and putting it in other kids buckets... but when he went to take the candy back out of their buckets, things didn't go as he planned.  But as I said, that was last year, this year he had trick-or-treating down pat, and loved it... all expect the scary house!

Pumpkin Patch

We took an adventure to a local pumpkin patch.  We strolled in the pumpkins and then played and played... on the slides, swings, bouncy castle, zip line, rolling tunnel, cars, pogo stick, the maze, the hammock!

What worse than a bug on your windshield? A bug in your car!

Fall Fest

Fort Myer, which is just a mile from our house, hosted a Fall Fest the weekend before Halloween.  Despite the rain, it was awesome!  They had pony rides, a petting zoo, a bouncy castle, and tons of other games and giveaways.

Go CARDs!!

On Oct 28, after a 7-game series, the St Louis Cardinals bet the Texas Rangers to win the 2011 World Series!  We did our best to show our Cards spirit!

Mom and Magnus stayed up late the night of game 6 (but not for all 11-innings that lasted until 1am EST), to teach Magnus a little about the game of baseball.  Though he was excited, it wasn't enough to keep him awake the next night, for game 7, to see the Cards win the World Series.

Monster March

Magnus' school had a Monster March a few days before Halloween.  All the kids dressed up and then marched outside and navigated thru a magic maze and earned a treat at the end!  Dad, who returned from a 2-week trip the morning of the Monster March, went to Magnus school, along with Maliah and Papa Newman, and enjoyed the festivities.

Magnus is sporting his 'Tow Mater' (a cartoon tow truck from the movie 'Cars') costume that Papa Newman got for him.  Magnus likes it because the arms are puffy giving him big biceps, that he can use to give even better hugs!

Bubble Bath

Magnus loves the water... even when it comes in the form of a bubble bath.

Shooting Star

Maliah is having fun learning to feed herself.  She has become especially fond on finding just the right spot to put her finger on her snack poofs to make them shoot off her tray... like shooting stars! (Yes, she is wearing her brother's hand-me-down blue pajamas.)

Turning 36...

Dad took Mom out for a fancy dinner to celebrate her birthday.  They went to Fogo de Chao's in downtown DC.  You are given a card when you are seated, one side is red the other green.  Chefs walk around with meat on a spit and serve it up to you when you turn your card green side up.  There are 15 cuts of fire roasted meats to choose from.  It was yummy... and fun! Chow down!
